On the morning of September 11, 2025, at hall A7 – Faculty of Civil Engineering, Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH), nearly 500 new students majoring in Civil Engineering and Traffic Construction Engineering attended the welcoming ceremony for new students of the 21st course.
The students listened to meaningful sharing from the Dean of the Faculty – Dr. Nguyen Van Nam and the guests who are working in the fields of construction, engineering and technology. The ceremony is not only a welcome but also an opportunity to inspire, helping students to visualize their learning journey and career ahead.

At the event, Mr. Aiden Tong – CEO & Founder of Aidedo, who had previously been invited by the Industrial University of Ho Chi Minh City (IUH) to participate in the official quality assessment of the Faculty of Civil Engineering’s training program, returned to share his career journey in the construction industry. In his talk, he conveyed valuable lessons and practical insights drawn from his own professional experience.

With a starting point as a student in the field of bridge and road construction and more than 8 years of professional experience from the time he first graduated to becoming a strategic partner of more than 100 companies in the US, Australia, UK… Aidedo’s CEO has brought practical, close but extremely profound perspectives to new students.
5 KEY MESSAGES THAT AIDEN TONG – CEO OF AIDEDO SENT TO STUDENTS
1.Clearly visualize the industry context
“The civil engineering profession today is changing day by day. The government is pushing hard against corruption, eliminating backyards, COCC and strongly orienting the country’s infrastructure restructuring. We are living in an era of growth, where the young generation of engineers have the opportunity to create great projects, contributing to changing the face of the country with their own intelligence, not with relationships.” Aiden Tong said
2. See opportunities both domestically and internationally
- Domestically: The transportation system, seaports, urban areas, etc. are receiving huge investments. The demand for high-quality engineers is huge.
- Overseas: Vietnamese engineers have been working for international projects through outsourcing models or multinational companies are investing and implementing projects in Vietnam. You can work for a company in the US or Australia right in Vietnam, this is completely feasible in the new era.
That means: The opportunities and demand for engineers are huge, you don’t have to worry about lack of jobs anymore.
3. Build clear goals
Aiden Tong posed a provocative question: “Who will you be in four years?” This question is not only thoughtful but also a reminder for every student to define their personal goals as soon as possible. Four years of university will pass very quickly and without a clear direction, it is easy for that time to pass in a blur. Therefore, start shaping your future today.
Do you want to become an engineer who graduates with a good, good or excellent degree? Who is your role model, and what knowledge and skills have they equipped themselves with to achieve that success? These questions will help you reflect on yourself, thereby realizing how much effort you need to make to achieve your goals.
Try to imagine the difference between you now and you four years from now. At the age of eighteen, you have just left your hometown to enter university, still dependent on the support of your family and still have many uncertainties. But at the age of twenty-two, you can completely become an engineer working at an international corporation, have a stable income, be able to take care of yourself and even repay your parents with simple gifts every Tet. That change is not far away, but is the result of the right orientation and persistent efforts that you start to implement from today.

4. Specific actions to achieve goals
To turn goals into reality, specific actions are needed, otherwise they will remain theoretical:
- Complete the program on time, be serious about studying.
- Learn foreign languages – especially English, the key to working globally.
- Learn how to use and apply AI and the latest design software.
- Real-life experience: internship, practice, part-time job, join English clubs, specialized clubs. Where you learn many things that are not in the curriculum.
- Expand life experience: connect, communicate, observe the world around, understand people – because construction is not only about technology but also about serving life.
5. Make the right choice now
Opportunities are equal for all of you. But success or failure depends on each person’s choices and actions.
- You have the right to choose who you want to be.
- You have the right to choose how to live, how to study, how to develop your career.
- And you are responsible for what you choose.
The context is the same, the opportunities are equal, but the results will be different – the decision is in your hands.

The sharing session not only aims to orient new students but also demonstrates Aidedo’s efforts in accompanying the young generation of engineers, helping them to quickly visualize their goals, determine their own direction and approach the overall picture of the construction industry in the context of international integration. Through connecting, sharing and inspiring, Aidedo hopes to contribute to forming a force of engineers with vision, skills and readiness to meet the increasingly high demands of the domestic and international markets.
We believe that preparing and developing quality human resources is the foundation for creating sustainable values. That is also how Aidedo ensures to bring customers and partners solutions that meet international standards, meet expectations and contribute positively to the overall development of the construction industry.
